Fibre Optics

Learn about fibre optics – very thin pieces of special plastic which light can travel along. You’ll need two AA batteries and a small Philips screwdriver to get started.

Use the green board and the small screws to make a circuit for the energy (electricity) in the batteries to flow to the light bulb ,following the pictures below. Turn the light on and off using the switch.

Q. Are all the fibres lit up?

Q. Does the fibre light up along its length?

Q. When you bend the fibre does the light continue to come out of the end?
